Mr. Capo earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Legal Studies from New York University in 2006 before attending Pace University School of Law where he received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) in 2009.
Prior to establishing Camili & Capo, PA in 2021 along with his law partner Krenar Camili, Joseph served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Raymond A. Reddin, J.S.C. in Paterson, NJ until 2010. It was here that he was certified as a Mediator by the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts and successfully negotiated and resolved various Small Claim, Landlord/Tenant, and Special Civil matters. Mr. Capo drafted opinions and bench memoranda on matters before the Court including pre-trial motions, petitions for post-conviction relief, and municipal appeals.
From 2010 to 2011 Mr. Capo was an Associate Attorney at a law firm in Passaic, NJ where he expanded his legal knowledge and became Lead counsel in complex litigation matters including criminal defense, civil rights claims, commercial disputes, and matrimonial matters. Mr. Capo appeared regularly in Federal, State, and local courts in New Jersey, performed extensive legal writing, — including appellate briefs, federal trial briefs, motion practice, and memoranda of law — and was entrusted with evaluating and handling cases that were outside of the firm’s core practice areas.
Guided by an unwavering commitment to client representation and protection, Mr. Capo honed his skills as a litigator and counselor as an Associate at another law firm in Passaic, New Jersey from 2011 to 2013. During this time, he managed a caseload of over 250 personal injury files from inception through completion. The scope of representation included affirmative personal injury claims, property damage claims, declaratory judgment actions, UM/UIM claims, workers’ compensation claims, and PIP arbitrations. Mr. Capo appeared on and argued dispositive motions, discovery motions, proof hearings, and friendly hearings throughout the state Superior Court system, and became a lead trial attorney for matters assigned to his unit proceeding to trial.
Years of passionately working to better the lives of each and every one of his clients has played a vital role for Mr. Capo in advocating for those injured by the intentional or negligent acts of others since 2013. And by 2021, as a Partner at a Personal Injury Law Firm in Clifton, NJ Mr. Capo had been in charge of a caseload of over 85 personal injury files, many of which involved traumatic brain injuries, spinal fusion surgeries, minimally-invasive spinal surgeries, reconstructive joint surgeries, as well as other catastrophic injuries. Tasked with evaluating damages in each case and retaining experts to prove damages on a case-by-case basis, Mr. Capo worked hand-in-hand with all experts, including medical experts, vocational experts, economists, physical and biomechanical engineers, life care plan experts, and accident reconstruction experts. He was responsible for evaluating, negotiating, and litigating each case to conclusion.
